The Night Game supported by The Band Camino at El Rey in Los Angeles. I’m so impressed by both of these bands and got completely lost in this show. Didn’t know what to expect, but was blown away! The Band Camino gives me all the feels, and I highly recommend seeing TNG live if you have the chance. Vibe city.
Valise are very talented recent friends from right here in the South. These guys hosted an incredibly successful release show at Three Links in Deep Ellum for their debut full-length Young Bloomer, right before they headed out on tour with Copeland. We met up early for some promo shots.
One on of their pre-tour headline shows, I met up with X Ambassadors for some promo shots in Kansas City before shooting the live set. It also happened to be the official release day of their amazing debut full-length, VHS.
I shot Silverstein at House of Blues in Hollywood last month on their Discovering the Waterfront 10 Year Anniversary tour. Probably my last time at that venue before it’s torn down! My buddy Victor Zeiser of Squeek Lights is one of the best LDs I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Enjoyed shooting this set for his website!
Check back for a follow up post with promos I shot for the band later on in this tour!
I had the privilege of documenting Grouplove‘s intimate benefit show (and first show of 2015) at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, LA. It’s been a few months since tour, so it was amazing to be back with this beautiful group of people! Read more about the concert’s cause here.
What an emotional show. Anberlin has been with me for years, and I’ve seen them almost as many times as I’ve seen any band live. Very cool to get to shoot this killer performance and to see some crew friends again from the Honda Civic Tour! It was also neat to see my Austin buddy Chris’s band for the first time, Nominee, open for them. Main support was Dayshell.
This summer I’ve had the opportunity to go out on tour with a really amazing group of people, who are as fun as their music. Smallpools is Sean Scanlon (vocals/keys), Mike Kamerman (guitar), Joseph Intile (bass), and Beau Kuther (drums). These guys are SO talented and have blown everyone away with their rapid success and high energy live show. It was a privilege to document every day life with them on stage and on the road. I also had a blast getting to know the crew that helped make everything possible- Kelsey Kuther (guitar tech), James Wooten (TM & FOH), and Sandor Schlaffer (merch manager). So proud of everything I’ve witnessed them accomplish and to call the whole crew friends!
These photos are just a fraction of what I covered of Smallpools on Grouplove’s Spreading Rumors US Tour. They span shows from Pomona, Tempe, Tucson, Dallas Edge Fest, OKC, and a LOT of time in the Sprinter… And there is so much more to come! I will be following up with more posts from the subsequent run with Neon Trees. Also check out my Instagram for sneak peeks from tour!
Smallpools is gearing up to release a full length album, but give their amazing first single “Dreaming” a listen while you check out this post!
Me with the guys! (Most of) the whole tour crew. (Thanks for the photo Catie!)
The first couple photos were behind the scenes of an interview with the band from Fratzke & Fratzke at the Pomona show- check the video out below!
