Fellow photographers Jon Ervin, Clifton Roberts, and I went down to Thunderbird Lake in Norman with models Ashley and Crystal. Despite the unfortunate lack of bug spray, we had so much fun scouting the area, taking casual photos, and hanging out. For me, this shoot was inspired by current fashion catalog trends that use a low-fi photography style, like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. These are all digital, so the film quality and color toning was created in post processing. (The Mamiya belongs to Clifton!)

Lately I’ve wanted to make time for more artificial lighting on location to create a fashion edge, so I grabbed my sister Kathryn and my friend Catie for some just-for-fun experimenting. We found an awesome, tall, wheat field in Yukon, OK and spent the sunset trying different setups for a variety of effects. It was an overcast day, which gave us some cool clouds, and with just a couple speedlights, we were able to bring them out while keeping the front fill soft and dreamy. There’s a natural light shot thrown in as well.
