While at Chipotle Cultivate Fest with Smallpools this summer, I also got to catch the sets of Betty Who, St. Lucia and friends from last year’s Grouplove tour, Portugal. The Man.

Curtural districts and block parties have been popping up all over central Oklahoma City the last several years. This year, the one to emerge was the H&8th Night Market (Hudson & 8th in downtown OKC). H&8th is a community gathering with performances, food trucks, art, and shops/bars that are open after hours. Local band, Paperscissor, performed at the most recent gathering.

Since I’m quite behind on my blog posts, Elliot Riesenweber has already arrived into the world. But that means I can show you the maternity, hospital and newborn photos all together! Jacob & Christine are good friends of mine, so I had the privilege of documenting their entire first baby experience!

This life event was also part of another creative experiment of mine, so stay tuned for that later this year!

I realize that these images barely scratch the surface of the “steampunk” look, but I’ve always been drawn by this style and really wanted to do a steampunk-inspired shoot. I have to give props to Catie Bartlett for shooting these with me! We had so much fun with the dark and whimsical theme, in a perfect, woodsy location, on a nice day in December.

Fellow photographers Jon Ervin, Clifton Roberts, and I went down to Thunderbird Lake in Norman with models Ashley and Crystal. Despite the unfortunate lack of bug spray, we had so much fun scouting the area, taking casual photos, and hanging out. For me, this shoot was inspired by current fashion catalog trends that use a low-fi photography style, like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. These are all digital, so the film quality and color toning was created in post processing. (The Mamiya belongs to Clifton!)

I thought I was done with WPPI, but I completely forgot about the roll of film I shot in my Holga in Vegas! During my recent trip to New York (which I will blog about soon), I shot mostly film. When I developed them, I found a rogue roll from a few months earlier. As Holga goes, the images produced are very unpredictable, which is all the fun! Enjoy!
