Wyatt Clough invited me to come spend two days in the desert while he and Roger Galvez directed a narrative video for Silverstein’s“Whiplash”. It was just released yesterday, so I’m excited to share the BTS photo set- one of my favorite sets from all last year! The desert is my absolute favorite shooting environment, and it was so fun to get out and do something a little different.
I spent a day in the studio with Smallpools at the end of the Lovetap! Tour this summer to document the process of recording their acoustic mashup cover of Major Lazer’s “Lean On” with the classic song “Lean on Me” at the Red Bull Studio in Santa Monica. It was amazing to watch the process from arrangement to tracking (as well as hopping into the booth to contribute some group vocals myself).
Check out the track on Soundcloud with these BTS photos!
I had the privilege of documenting Grouplove‘s intimate benefit show (and first show of 2015) at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, LA. It’s been a few months since tour, so it was amazing to be back with this beautiful group of people! Read more about the concert’s cause here.
Finally posting Part 2 of Smallpools tour this summer supporting Neon Trees. This set starts at Chipotle’s Cultivate Fest in San Francisco and ending in my home state at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK. Check out their upcoming headline tour dates here!
Check out the tour highlight video I did for Smallpools this summer and come see them on tour this fall! More photos to come, but you can see some of them in this post.
This summer I’ve had the opportunity to go out on tour with a really amazing group of people, who are as fun as their music. Smallpools is Sean Scanlon (vocals/keys), Mike Kamerman (guitar), Joseph Intile (bass), and Beau Kuther (drums). These guys are SO talented and have blown everyone away with their rapid success and high energy live show. It was a privilege to document every day life with them on stage and on the road. I also had a blast getting to know the crew that helped make everything possible- Kelsey Kuther (guitar tech), James Wooten (TM & FOH), and Sandor Schlaffer (merch manager). So proud of everything I’ve witnessed them accomplish and to call the whole crew friends!
These photos are just a fraction of what I covered of Smallpools on Grouplove’s Spreading Rumors US Tour. They span shows from Pomona, Tempe, Tucson, Dallas Edge Fest, OKC, and a LOT of time in the Sprinter… And there is so much more to come! I will be following up with more posts from the subsequent run with Neon Trees. Also check out my Instagram for sneak peeks from tour!
Smallpools is gearing up to release a full length album, but give their amazing first single “Dreaming” a listen while you check out this post!
Me with the guys! (Most of) the whole tour crew. (Thanks for the photo Catie!)
The first couple photos were behind the scenes of an interview with the band from Fratzke & Fratzke at the Pomona show- check the video out below!
A final blog post about my zombies-meet-high-fashion photo series “Zombies Are People Too”. Even though there was only one photo from each shoot, model, and location, I had many favorites. It made it difficult to narrow my selections down for the final series. Introducing… the Zombie B-Sides! In other words, a few extra photos that I couldn’t just tuck away without ever showing. Along with these extra releases, this post features some behind the scenes photos with my makeup artist, Jessica, making the magic happen!
